Norman Rockwell’s famous Rosie the Riveter poster appeared on The Saturday
Evening Post's cover on May 29, 1943. Attributed by some to J. Howard Miller, it was
displayed at Westinghouse Electric Corporation to encourage American women to
support the Allies in World War II. Despite earning less than men, women worked
tirelessly, especially in aviation. We Can Do It became their rallying cry.
Iconic figures like Barbie and Wonder Woman also inspired women to take on more
responsible roles. Rosie, Barbie, and Wonder Woman motivated women to pursue
freedom, independence, and use their skills—opportunities they continue to seek today.
Rosie the Riveter helped lead the way!
